About this blog:

Years ago, my sister and I went to see the Darjeeling Limited in theater. Afterwards, we were talking about the movie and about our love for creating art. We shared a similar problem: we put our art last to the business of our lives and thus hardly ever made time to create anything. My sister suggested that we make a commitment to create a piece of art every week. She jokingly said "Can we agree to that?" in reference to the line Owen Wilson used repeatedly in the movie.
Although I tried at first to stick to our commitment, I've lapsed into not making time to create. I'm hoping this blog will help me rededicate time to that purpose.

I haven't been maintaining this blog, but I have recently been creating more art!  Also, I have an Etsy shop where I'm trying to sell prints.  Please support my shop by purchasing a paper or canvas print!

Sow Weeping 11/28/14

"Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!  He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bring his sheaves with him." Psalm 126:5-6

A Child's Grasp 10/19/14

Today was a real weekend day... I did no work and I actually drew.
“We have to schedule time to be unscheduled.” --Kevin DeYong, Crazy Busy

Weighted Heart

I drew this while traveling in Puerto Rico this summer.  I traveled solo for two weeks and it was a great experience.  Of course I had ambitious goals to do more artwork on the trip, but I learned over the course of my travels to loosen the pressure I was putting on myself.
I keep coming back to the imagery of a heart, broken and weighted.  There is one who can heal; there is one who can free.

Just Draw 6/27/14

Ok, it's been a ridiculous amount of time since I did any artwork regularly.  I keep feeling not in the mood or not sure what to make.  So I thought it best to just draw something.  So that's what this is.  Hoping this will lead to much more work to come.

Recovery 2/8/14

I haven't posted since August.  In September, I tore my ACL in my knee and in December, I had surgery to reconstruct it.  It's been an interesting five months...  I've thought a lot about not taking for granted what I am physically able to do and I've had downs and ups in frustrations and triumphs with my recovery.  In the time spent on physical therapy, I've let go of things... one of which was time to make art.  I hope that I've learned something in all this.  I think about my mortality.  I think about my blessings.  I praise God for the ability to walk again.  I praise God for a chance to draw today.
