Ok, it's been a ridiculous amount of time since I did any artwork regularly.  I keep feeling not in the mood or not sure what to make.  So I thought it best to just draw something.  So that's what this is.  Hoping this will lead to much more work to come.

Recovery 2/8/14

I haven't posted since August.  In September, I tore my ACL in my knee and in December, I had surgery to reconstruct it.  It's been an interesting five months...  I've thought a lot about not taking for granted what I am physically able to do and I've had downs and ups in frustrations and triumphs with my recovery.  In the time spent on physical therapy, I've let go of things... one of which was time to make art.  I hope that I've learned something in all this.  I think about my mortality.  I think about my blessings.  I praise God for the ability to walk again.  I praise God for a chance to draw today.

In the Depths 8/12/13

The Lost Art of Oil Painting 8/1/13

Oil painting used to be my primary medium.  I enjoyed the richness of color and how slow the paint dried allowed for better blending and cohesiveness.  However, an oil painting is a commitment.  It's not something to be finished all at once and the days it takes to dry can deter the impatient such as myself.  Most of my pieces over the last several years have been drawings since they can usually be finished in one sitting and that is what my motivation and concentration allowed for.
I've had an increasing urge to paint again and as my summer is drawing to a close, I decided now is as good of a time as any.   I think it'd been about four years since I'd used my oil paints and I had pry them open with pliers :).  I've spent two days working on this piece and will probably spend a couple more.  I'd forgotten how much I enjoy the medium and am finding a welcomed change of style in this piece.

Planted By The Water 7/28/13

"Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

Ask 4/13/13

I am searching for ways to find time to make more art.  This time, I did part of this piece while spending time with a friend who was also doing art.  I also didn't finish it all in one sitting (what I usually do).  I found that I was still inspired to work on this piece, even over the several days that it took me to complete.  Hope you enjoy.
